Executive Chairman and Managing Director
Peter Thompson has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry both in Australia and internationally. He is a CPA qualified accountant and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. Mr Thompson has held senior executive roles with a number of major mining companies including Mt. Edon Gold Mines, MIM Holdings Ltd. and Xstrata Plc.
Since 2000, Mr Thompson has been involved in the development of various infrastructure projects, including mine and refinery expansions and the establishment of infrastructure including roads, rail, port and power utilities. Mr Thompson was previously a Director of Western Australian iron ore producer Golden West Resources Limited and Queensland based mining and civil contractor JJ McDonald & Sons Group. Mr Thompson is currently a non-executive of Nova MSC Berhad, a Malaysian public company.
Exploration director – Executive
Neil Norris is a geologist with over 25 years of experience in the resource industry in Australia and internationally. Previously he was Group Exploration Manager for Perseverance Corporation Limited and spent over 10 years with Newmont Australia Limited holding senior executive positions in both the mining and exploration areas. One of his key achievements during his career was the development of the geological models that contributed to the discovery of the Phoenix ore body at Fosterville, initially owned by Crocodile Gold Corp. Mr Norris was also involved in the discovery of Newcrest Mining’s world class Cadia and Ridgeway gold-copper deposit in Australia. Mr. Norris is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists. He earned a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Hun Seng Tan
Hun Seng Tan has over 30 years’ experience in the process engineering sector both in China and Singapore. He was founder of BMS Technology PL, a manufacturer for the hard disk industry in Singapore and China. Mr Tan led BMS Technology in a successful merger and later 100% acquisition of that company by Nidec Corporation of Japan which is listed on both the New York and Tokyo stock exchanges.
Mr Tan holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Hull, United Kingdom and obtained his Advanced Diploma in Management Study and Production Engineering. Mr Tan has a proven track record in business development and extensive business relations in China and the Asia capital markets.
Kevin Hart is a Chartered Accountant and was appointed to the position of Company Secretary on 3 February 2010. He has over 30 years’ experience in accounting and the management and administration of public listed entities in the mining and exploration industry.
Mr Hart is currently a partner in an advisory firm which specialises in the provision of company secretarial services to ASX listed entities.
Regional Exploration Manager
Mr Dean has 17 years of experience in green and brownfields mineral exploration for a variety of commodities throughout Australia and in SE Asia with a strong focus on gold exploration. Prior to joining GBM, he managed the regional exploration program for the Fosterville gold project in central Victoria and worked as Project Geologist with Rio Tinto for iron ore and with Iluka Resources for mineral sands. Mr Dean completed a First Class Honours degree from La Trobe University, Melbourne
General Manager of the Mount Coolon Gold Project
Mr Horton, is an experienced Mining Engineer with more than 30 years in global senior operations management roles in Australia and overseas. Most recently he was Principal of Linque Consulting, specializing in operational improvement programs for a number of mining companies around Australasia. Prior to that he spent considerable years at Australian mining services groups including Macmahon, Thiess, HWE and Eltin in senior roles including managing contract mining projects across Australia. These roles included new mine start-ups in gold, coal and iron ore. Mr Horton has previously worked for and consulted to a number of large scale mining companies including BHP Billiton, Newcrest Mining, Dominion Gold. Acacia Resources, Carpentaria Gold and MIM. He holds an honours degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland and an MBA from Deakin University. He is the holder of First Class Mine Manager Certificates of Competency for WA, NT and QLD.
